KLUGE TENNIS PLACES SECOND AT USTA/TEXAS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

November 26, 2007 New Braunsfels,Texas -
The 2007 Fall Junior Team Tennis Championships were held November 17-18 at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunsfels, Texas. The Northwest Houston Youth Tennis Association (NWYTA) in conjunction with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), sponsors fall and spring leagues for local kids ages 6-18.
Seasons run from 4 to 8 weeks in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. This fall, Houston was represented by two teams from the NWYTA. The Kluge Tennis Ranch team in the 14 and under Intermediate Division won second place at the state tournament. The other team from Kluge, the 14 and Under Advanced, placed third.

The 14 and Under Intermediate team of Whitney Barlow, Kelsey Curcio, Nathalie Charlton, Sophie Newton, JT. Fischer, Ryan Renaud, Tim Stroud, and David Rowe defeated teams from West Texas, Laredo, Austin, and Montgomery County to advance to the state championship finals. In a close championship match the team from Dallas defeated Northwest Houston by three points. The NWYTA has sent teams to the state tournament for the past five years. Kluge Tennis Ranch has qualified for the state tournament each year for the past five years. For more information regarding team tennis in your area contact the USTA – Texas.
